My research focuses on cellular metabolism in non-transformed and cancer cells. Through the research conducted in my laboratory, I have contributed to an in-depth understanding of the importance of metabolic rewiring and its regulation in cancer progression. Particularly relevant to this consortium is the work of my laboratory showing that hepatocellular carcinoma rely on an alternative lipid metabolism pathway that confers resistance to particular treatments. We further found that this alternative lipid metabolism pathway is regulated by the SREBP-mTOR-axis. Furthermore, we identified a high-fat diet as an inducer of metabolic hepatocellular carcinoma hallmarks in non-transformed liver cells in mice.
